WITH SCOPE. Cal. 7mm Rem. Mag. S# 5555 (on bottom of receiver ring with metal out of wood). The 23-1/4" medium weight round barrel is marked "G R DOUGLAS" "7MM REM." on left rear. Large ring model 98 Mauser military action has had bolt body and extractor engine turned, pear shaped bolt knob installed and turned down, Buehler safety fitted and Tilden scope bases installed. A Timney trigger has been fitted. Bottom metal has hinged floor plate with release button in front of trigger. Trigger guard bow has been nicely thinned and shaped. Finely crafted stock by Leonard Mews of whom Roy Weatherby said "My finest stockmaker ever." is made of dense and lightly marbled European walnut and measures 14" over checkered steel buttplate with top area of checkering stippled leaving Mew's classic fleur-de-lis design. Stock features large right hand roll over cheekpiece, checkered steel grip cap also with fleur-de-lis and rosewood forend tip. Stock is checkered in borderless skip line Mew's rocket pattern, one of his more famous styles. It has curved ribbons bisecting checkered areas. Rifle is also fitted with leather sling in QD loops. Rifle also sports Leupold Vari-X II 4-9X scope with duplex reticle in Tilden rings. CONDITION: very fine as custom finished with only a very few minor marks in wood and metal.
